Put a Ring On It

Put a Ring On It by Beth Kendrick

Summary: The author of New Uses for Old Boyfriends returns to the Delaware seashore town of Black Dog Bay, where one woman learns to put passion before practicality…

Brighton Smith doesn’t do outrageous. As an insurance actuary, it’s her job to assess risk and avoid bad investments. But when her fiancĂ© calls to confess he’s married someone else on a whim (“I looked at her and I just knew!”), she snaps…

That night, at a local bar, Jake Sorensen—hot, rich, and way out of her league—buys Brighton a cocktail. At midnight, she kisses him. And by dawn, they’re exchanging vows at a drive-through chapel.

Brighton knows Jake is a bad bet, but she doesn’t care. After a lifetime of playing it safe, she’s finally having fun. Until the whirlwind romance gives way to painful reality...and Brighton finds out the truth about why a guy like Jake married a girl like her. With her heart on the line and the odds stacked against them, Brighton must decide whether to cut her losses or take a leap of faith that this love affair is one in a million.

Angies comments: Realistic? No, but the book is fun, and I can’t help but root for Brighton and Jake. The book is fast-paced, and it mixes sexy with sweet.

Recommended for readers of contemporary romance.

Forgotten Tales of Indiana

Forgotten Tales of Indiana by Keven McQueen

Meet the King of the Ghouls, an accomplished grave robber and notorious murderer, and a man so convinced he was an ox that he often joined neighborhood cattle for a bite of grass, and discover ghosts, monsters, giant skeletons and more in this collection of outlandish tales from the Hoosier State."

Angies comments: Some interesting tales from Indiana – complete with stories about body snatchers, murders, and other intriguing events. Quick, easy book to read.

Washi Tape Crafts

Washi Tape Crafts: 110 Ways to Decorate Just About Anything by Amy Anderson

Summary: It’s the definitive washi tape craft book for adults. Washi tape—the Japanese decorative paper tape that’s easy to tear, peel, stick and re-stick—is transformative, fun, and remarkably easy to use. It’s also never been hotter. Now comes the only adult washi tape craft book packaged with the tape itself—ten rolls, with 18 feet in each roll—making it a complete kit and outstanding value.

Packed full of amazing projects and ideas, it’s the book and tape kit that shows all the ways to be creative with washi tape. The book includes techniques: precision tearing, wrapping, and weaving. How to make bows, rosettes, and other shapes. How to seal and weatherproof designs to make them permanent. And 110 projects, with color photographs and step-by-step instructions, from custom photo frames to one-of-a-kind gifts. The possibilities are endless.

Angies comments: Great for crafters and even people who want to craft but don’t want to mess with paints or glue. Lots of cute ideas for decoration! I really liked the first chapter, where readers are introduced to washi tape and given instructions on common techniques.

Recommended for crafters and decorators who want another craft to try.
