Alternatives to Google

Google usually works great, but there are other options if you need something more specific. Check out the following search engines:

For privacy:
DuckDuckGo

Worried about privacy online? Don't want those targeted ads? DuckDuckGo doesn't track your online activities. For more information, go to https://duckduckgo.com/

For images that you can use:
CC Search

Technically CC Search is not a search engine, but it is a good place to search for images that have Creative Commons licenses. Creative Commons licenses give people more flexibilty to use images legally. Check it out at https://search.creativecommons.org/

For Medical:
imedisearch

imedisearch.com is only for medical searches. It only looks for reputable sites, and you can specify whether you are a member of the general public, a doctor, a nurse, or other medical professional. That way you get information that applies to you. Check it out at http://www.imedisearch.com/

For social media:
Social Mention

Want to look for something on social media? Social Mention searches social media, including blogs and Twitter. Check it out at http://www.socialmention.com/
